Shame & Self-Nurturance Group (Jan-April 2024)
Shame disempowers us, disconnects us from ourselves, isolates us from others, constricts our bodies, and keeps us in old patterns. The intent of this group therapy is to deepen each member’s awareness of their own shame and equip them to radically love and nurture the self. Over twelve weeks, this group will foster a safe and collaborative environment to explore the origins and manifestations of shame. At the core of this group is the conviction that each member deserves gentleness and flourishing.
Participants will receive the following:
Coping skills for grounding and self-soothing when shame is triggered
Resource lists for deeper exploration
Somatic prompts for connecting with the body
Access to a peer-generated resource folder
Schedule a brief screening call if you'd like to discuss participating in this group.
Am I a good fit for this group?
This is a virtual group therapy for adult residents of Washington state.
This group will likely be supportive for you if some of these ring true:
You find it difficult to direct compassion toward yourself
You spent a lot of time in contexts that minimized your worth
You are trying to re-parent or nurture an inner child who feels broken
You engage in behaviors like isolating yourself, making self-deprecating comments, or self-sabotage
You notice a perfectionistic or hyper-critical inner voice
You are trying to unlearn internalized oppressive teachings
You frequently feel embarrassed, humiliated, or like something is wrong with you
If you don't see yourself reflected in these but still want to explore this group, feel free to reach out to me with questions.
How much should I pay for this group?
You determine whether you pay $30, $40, or $50 per session of this group. I recommend consulting the Green Bottle of Economic Justice Model in order to place yourself at one of the three tiers (the righthand bottle indicates the lowest rate, and the bottle on the left indicates someone who would probably pay the full rate). Feel free to consult the image on this page or to contact me with questions.
